Holiday Shopping Made Easy - How to Save This Season

Everyone knows that the holiday season can take a serious toll on one's finances in a heartbeat. So many people find themselves in debt or near broke come the first of the year. There are a couple of reasons this happens. One is inflation of goods every year and another is over spending. This article will take a look at how you can make holiday shopping easy this year. You will learn how you can save big time on gifts and stay debt free.

Listed below are a few tips that will help you get through the holiday shopping season without getting stressed out.

Save Up - You would think that saving up for your holiday shopping would be automatic; but surprisingly, many consumers do not have a dime saved up when it is time to start their gift shopping. I know that everyone is not on the same financial level, but if possible you should try to put a little something aside every check or at least once a month dedicated entirely to holiday shopping. You will be surprised to see how much you have to spend when the holidays roll around. I personally take just ten dollars a week and put it in an account that is just for holiday spending. I do this all year around, that way I never miss that money from my check, it's like it's never there.

Start Early - I really like this simple idea, start your shopping early. I mean, we all know the holiday season is coming every year and we all pretty much know who we need to shop for. With that being said; you can start shopping for friends and family way before the holiday season even begins. If you buy a sweater here and a toaster there, next thing you know, you may only have one or two things to buy come November and December.

Buy Universal Gifts - This is a great idea if you have to shop for couples. Find something that they both can benefit from. This can sometimes be a lot cheaper then buying individual gifts for each person. Great universal gifts are things like toasters, games or gift certificates.

Look Online - Even though people are still drawn to the mall when it comes to knocking out most of their shopping you can often times find some really good deals online. This really can come in handy if you already know what you are looking for. All you really need to do is put a quick search for whatever you are looking for and compare to find the best price.

Find Wholesalers - This is one of the most overlooked but most effective ways to save big time on holiday shopping. This is true because most do not know about or understand buying goods at wholesale prices. I f you can find a good wholesale company, you probably will be able to do all of your holiday shopping through them and save big time! When I say big time, I mean you can be paying up to 75-80% off retail prices for thousands of products, pretty cool, huh?

Discount Shopping is a great way to cash in

Discount shopping is an excellent way to make the dollar go farther. While you may have found sweater for forty dollar before sales, discount shopping may leave you with an entire outfit for under forty dollars. Discount shopping is becoming the favorite way of buying products. It’s a great way to save money and time because with a wide variety of products from books, CDs and DVDs to garden or fitness equipment, you have the possibility to choose the product you want from the same place instead of walking along the specialized non-online shops. Discount shopping is becoming more and more popular. No longer is there a stigma associated with getting a bargain from a factory outlet.

Discount shopping is the latest tool and the consumer is the real winner in it all. Discount shopping is easy if you know where to look. For example, one of the most popular places for shopping specials is an online discount shopping mall. Discount shopping is buying things below normal retail price. Discount shopping means buying things at or below wholesale price.

Online discount shopping has come of age. Buyers all over the World have learned to take advantage of the convenience and savings of shopping for designer clothes, jewelry, watches and women’s shoes online. Online stores are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Discount Shopping is a great way to cash in on the special offers made by companies and stores offering a whole range of products and services. Discounts range from gift reward points programs, certificates, bargain sales, clearances to free shipping offers to even free product offers. Discount shopping is no longer the preserve of the poorest. An increasing number of consumers are willing to purchase only the product benefits and are unwilling to pay the cost of branding, expensive packaging and other sources of the emotional benefits that FMCG companies would like to imbue in their products.

Beat The Shopping Blues

How nice would it be if there were a discount shopping mall that stocked all that you want? So you could shop for all that you want, yet not dig deep into your wallet; or stretch your credit card limits.

The internet is a source of genuine discount shopping malls. No frills, no strings. The largest range of products and services. So, whether it is books, CDs, clothes, accessories, personal and homecare products or finding hotels or car rentals, a discount shopping mall offer the best deals. This means when you shop, you not only get the discount prices but also downstream benefits like cash bonuses and reward points. You get additional money in your pocket to spend on things you always wished but were stuck without enough cash.

Some of these deals work through partnerships but many are free to sign up to and use their bulk buying power to let you get discount for nothing.

The discount home shopping online facility is a great boon to time-challenged buyers. When you become a member, you get instant access to websites of over 5,000 participating establishments. You can browse extensively through all that is on offer. Therefore, when you make the final decision to buy, you can be sure you get exactly what you want. At the price that is most affordable to you. Add the convenience of shopping at your place and time.

The objective is to build a genuine business model where the members and their families benefit from the discount offers. Therefore, discount home shopping online is an exciting home-based saving opportunity. The members get regular updates on special offers, additional sales and ways to save money. It is a sincere attempt to bring more value to the customers.

Most of these shopping malls would also like their members to be partners in their growth. You earn a virtually limitless income without moving out of the comfort of your home. This marketing model begins right after you sign up for the plan. The more members in your network buy, the more money you earn.

Whether you are a professional or a stay-at-home mom, you always like to add a little more to the family kitty. You want your family to enjoy the little luxuries but often find shortage of money as the stumbling factor. Discount home shopping is already a saving money opportunity but can also be a money making opportunity.
Discount home shopping online is available to all and that is why they have the largest online shopping malls with the highest number of participating establishments.

So, here is to your fine discount shopping experience.

Shopping in Leicester

The Victorian Clock Tower, situated at the meeting point of seven city streets, is generally acknowledged as the main meeting point in Leicester. It is also the focus point for most of the city’s shops with the two main shopping centres – the Haymarket and the Shires – on either side of it. The shops located in the city centre are in a pedestrianised zone where only buses are allowed. Being a geographically flat city, walking to and from shops in the city centre is very easy and hassle free.

The Haymarket shopping centre is located below the Haymarket bus station in the triangle of roads formed by the Haymarket, Charles Street and the High Street. It is open weekdays and Saturdays from 07:00 in the morning to 19:00 in the evening and on Sundays from 11am to 5 pm. During the Christmas period these times are generally extended by one hour. With over 50 shopping outlets, of the bigger stores only Boots and Woolworths are located within it. However, a lot of the smaller and emerging stores are to be found here including TK Max and Claire’s Accessories.

Literally across the Haymarket road is the newer Shires shopping centre. Here you will find a much broader range of shops including all the major High Street chains, for example Debenhams, Rackhams, The Early Learning Centre, Virgin Megastore etc. With around 100 different major shops to choose from, just about all of your shopping needs can be met in here. Opening hours vary, but generally speaking; week-days 09:30 to 18:00, except Wednesday when it shuts at 20:00, Saturday it opens at 09:00 and Sunday is the usual 11:00 to 17:00. Again, extended opening hours apply during the Christmas period.

The main on-street shops in Leicester city are located on the High Street, Gallowgate and Humberstone Gate. Belvoir Street and Market Street is where you’ll find relaxing cafes and bars alongside jewellers and confectioners. If your taste in shopping is a bit more quirky, then seek out the Lanes. Here you’ll find coffee shops mixed in with tattoo parlours and shops that cater for an alternative clientele from that usually found on the High Street.

Leicester has a tradition of holding markets going back over 800 years. The main outdoor Leicester Market has been located in the same place for over 700 years now. It has a capacity for nearly 300 stalls catering for buyers requiring food, clothing, and ironmongery, furnishings and just about anything else you might need. It is open Monday to Saturday between 07:00 and 18:00 and is located at the Market Place above Horsefair Street. Built in 1973 and adjoining the outdoor market, Leicester also has an indoor market. This market has two floors, on the ground floor is the food hall and upstairs there are a variety of stalls which mainly sell clothing. The indoor market is open Monday to Saturday 08:00 to 17:00. There is another large market at the Beaumont Leys shopping centre to the North West of the city. It has 60 stalls and again trades in a variety of goods. It is open Wednesday to Saturday 08:00 to 18:00 and on Sundays between March and November operates as a Car Boot sale market from 08:00 to 14:00. There are also regular farmers markets across the city and in November there is the annual German market hosted in Humberstone Gate, to the east along from the Clock tower, with German traders selling their wares.

Leicester has four shopping arcades catering for specialist shops and outlets; these are the Silver, Royal, Malcolm and Odeon arcades. All four arcades are located between Cank Street and Silver Street.

Leicester has a large Asian population and the Belgrave Road, running north out of the city, has many specialist shops catering for the Asian community.

In the city centre of Leicester many people could say that the city is not that well served for shops, considering its size. However, just outside the city near Junction 21 of the M1 motorway is the Fosse Park retail centre. Opened in 1998, it is one of the countries largest ‘out-of-town’ retail parks and has oceans of free car parking space. There is also a regular bus services from the city centre, making it both easily accessible and popular with Leicester shoppers. Here you’ll find expansive stores with popular high street brands like BHS and M&S, mixed in with major electrical and electronics retailers along with many other High street favourites. At Fosse Park shops decide their own opening hours but, as a rule, most are open week-days and Saturdays from 09:00 to 19:00, if not later. On Sundays those stores that are open mostly use the 11:00 to 17:00 opening times. Whether your taste in refreshments is MacDonalds or Druckers, there are also many food and drink outlets on this site.

Shopping In The UK

Markets are a cheap way of shopping, lots of towns have them two or three times a week, you can buy all sorts at a market, from fruit and veg, to plants, bedding, towels, rugs, sweets, even batteries, tools and toys. Nottingham has a lace market, where you can buy lots of hand made fancy lace items. There are also farmers markets, where you can buy fresh produce and meat; these are mainly run as an auction. A lot of markets have good quality merchandise and are often cheaper than shops and can last a long time.

A lot of department stores are putting a few High Streets out of business, as they have all the shops you need under one roof, and with ample free parking, one example is the Metro Centre in Newcastle.

The town I live in is very oldie worldly, we have still got an old fashioned sweet shop, a butcher's that dates back to 1805, we only have two supermarkets one in town and one on the outskirts. It relies on the tourist trade in the summer months. We have a fishmonger that's only open in the summer; in the winter months it's a fruit and veg shop. We have to go out of town if we want D.I.Y. supplies, but other than that we have nearly everything we need. It's still a very traditional old town centre with cobblestones and narrow roads.

High street shopping is definitely being taken over by the Internet and mail order, as you can sit in the comfort of your own home, and browse at your leisure. It seems to be the little outlets that are suffering rather than the better-known stores. A lot of the better-known stores have Internet shopping and mail order catalogues, so they are pretty well covered.

You can even buy your groceries online as well and get them delivered to your door, which saves the hassle of queuing, there is a delivery charge for this.

Whichever way you look at it shopping is a necessity and the longer we can keep the High Streets going by supporting the smaller shops, the better it will be, not only for the shops themselves, but also for the community, as there will still be employment.

1). Comparison shopping is a must, just like in regular stores. Don't just think you are getting a good deal - know you are!

2). Know the shipping and handling costs before you make your purchase. Some stores may offer a great price only to make up for it with the shipping and handling charges. On the other hand, many stores offer free shipping!

3). Make sure the online store is reputable. Do they have a return policy and a privacy statement that you can live with? Do they offer secure purchases? You should only make online purchases through a site that offers secure purchases. Most sites that offer secure purchases will display it. For those that do not, look for the http: in the address bar to change to https: on the store's shopping cart or the page where you put in your credit card number.

4). Make sure the online store includes complete contact information, including a phone number, e-mail address, and mailing address.

5). It's best to make your online purchases with a credit card. A credit card offers you an extra level of protection in case something goes awry and the online store is not handling the situation to your satisfaction. Go ahead, give it a try you may just be pleasantly surprised at how stress free your holiday shopping can be.

Online Shopping – Tips For Safe Shopping

Secure Shopping

When ordering from an online site, one of the first things you should check is to see that their order page is secure. The page you enter your address and contact details on doesn't need to be secure, but the page you enter your credit card on should be.

The easiest way to tell that a page is secure is that it will start with https. Also, in Internet Explorer, you'll see a yellow padlock at the bottom of your browser window.

Reputable Merchant

You should also do at least a little research to ensure that the website you are ordering from is a reputable, dependable merchant. There are several ways to check on the reputability of a merchant:

Are they listed with the Better Business Bureau?
Are they members of any other third party verification entities?
Check their customer reviews on third party sites like http://Alexa.com, http://BizRate.com, and http://Shopzilla.com

If you're purchasing from a seller on an online marketplace like Ebay or Amazon Marketplace, check their ratings and customer feedback. Most online marketplaces offer some kind of a guarantee against fraud for orders placed on their website.

Company policies

Also check on the companies policies before you order from them. You should check that they have at least some kind of a guarantee and return policy. Also, how quickly do they ship orders? What customer service do they offer? Do they have full contact info on their website, including their physical address and phone number?

With a little research, you can save some time and money by shopping online – and not worry about not getting your money's worth!

Grocery Shopping Cost Of Living Shopping Prices

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, The Consumer Price Index for the past year indicates the five grocery items that rank at the top of the inflated price list that you are now paying at your supermarkets. Number One on the list is FLOUR, increased by 37%. Not only does this increase affect the bag of flour you purchase, but every item that is made using flour....breads, bakery goods, etc.

Number Two on the list is EGGS, increased by 34.8%. Again, this goes beyond just the dozen or two of eggs that you buy for your family. The bakery goods and breads are also affected. The third most inflated priced item at an increased rate of 29.2% is SWEET PEPPERS (green, red, yellow). The GOOD NEWS here is that peppers are one of the easiest plants to grow with very little work. I will address home gardening in the next newsletter for all your summer salad needs.

The fourth most increased inflated price goes to MILK. MILK is up by 23.1%. This is one the most essential purchases on the grocery list for a family of any size with growing children. Number 5 on the list, up by 21.6%, is DRIED BEANS. This may be the most insulting of all, because it represents the most basic and last resort for the poor to put something on the table for the family to eat. One of the other world's basic food staples, RICE, has gone up by 10% in the last month alone. Costco and Wal-mart have recently limited the quantity of RICE that you can buy. Families will need a cost of living calculator to keep up with these flour prices, egg prices, and milk prices to figure out all the changing weekly grocery prices.

If you have visited our website and read the "BeSmart....ShopSmart....Shopping Tips", you know that we want you to save 40% to 50% off your weekly grocery shopping trips, including meat and high priced items such as coffee or laundry detergent. Of course, this is possible when you use your store loyalty card, store and manufacturer coupons, and take advantage of the BUY 1 GET 1 FREE OFFERS. We are very concerned about your bottom line savings on your groceries with these inflationary increases on some of the most basic food staples.

Being a good "Scout" you need to "Be prepared". First, study your local grocery circulars. Become price conscious as to what the marketplace is asking for these particular items as well as what your cupboard and refrigerator is lacking. Secondly, read the ad papers thoroughly to OPTIMIZE YOUR SAVINGS. For example, at a chain drug store, reading through their weekly circular....in smaller print that the rest....I discovered that if I bought the brand name skin lotion at the regular price, I would receive the same brand name liquid soap for FREE -- $3.99 value.

Another discovered sale at Safeway/Dominic's was getting FREE Safeway brand pasta (sale priced at a $1.00 per/box) when you purchased a 26 oz. jar of a brand named Spaghetti Sauce. The spaghetti sauce was reduced to a sale price of 3/$6.00....that's just $2.00 a jar, and less the free pasta....becomes a $1.00 item. This becomes a $1.00 MEAL, and represents an overall savings of $3.25 per each box of pasta and jar of sauce. NOTE: PASTA is one of the most flexible items you can have in your pantry for making simple dishes quickly, or creating a great meal of leftovers. Whole grain pasta is recommended for people with diabetes.

Use the ad circulars to plan your meals when you shop. I have advocated planning your menu around the SALE ITEMS in their circulars. Make sure you mark out what day of the week their shopping advertisement begins and ends. Some start on Wednesday and end on the following Tuesday. Others begin on Thursday and end on the following Wednesday. You could miss out on a sale item of importance by not knowing this.

For example, in their sale circular a brand name roasting chicken was on sale for 69 cents/per lb. at the local grocery store. Unlike the major store chains, this local grocery store week begins on Wednesday, not Thursday. So, if you didn't pay attention to this fact, and wanted to purchase the roasting chicken on Wednesday before the sale ended, it would have been TOO LATE. The new week began, the sale was over, and the price increased by 80 cents to $1.49 per/lb. The same 5-lb. Roasting Chicken went from $3.45 to $7.45 -- a lost savings of $4.00 per a 5lb. Chicken. That's ONE GALLON of GAS. PAY ATTENTION and SAVE!

Don't let image fool you that you are going to get the BEST PRICE because a store is known for its LOW PRICES. A recent story of comparative shopping prices revealed the following prices for a gallon of Skim Milk

•$2.69 at Aldi (discount store)
• $2.99 at Costco (saving club/membership needed)
• $3.99 at a local supermarket
• $4.49 at Wal-Mart

Who would have thought that? That’s an image buster for Wal-Mart always low prices advertisements! And don't forget about looking at your local drug store such as CVS or Walgreens for some of these grocery items. Recently I was able to purchase 2- 64oz. Walgreens Brand Orange Juice for $3.69 compared to other grocery store offers of 2/$5.00, and 2 dozen eggs for $3.00 ($1.50 per dozen) compared to $2.89 per dozen elsewhere.

When your comparative shopping list results in SAVINGS at different stores, the discussion of the cost of gas comes into play. Is it worth it??? I usually suggest you map out a circular trip to include as many of the stores as possible on your list. This way you can max out your SAVINGS by getting as many of the sales items as possible with one shopping trip. With a single stop to save $5.00 on a can of coffee, meat, laundry detergent, or ice cream you will have covered the cost of a gallon of gas for your vehicle.

I believe in buying in BULK when often used family products are on sale. If you have the capabilities, utilize your freezer. When shopping for Milk on Sale, search the back of the shelf for the latest possible expiration date. If you choose to freeze milk, remove 8-to-12 ounces to allow for expansion during the freezing process. You can also freeze eggs in freezer bags; just crack them open into the bag for later use in baking or for scramble eggs. AVOID waisting Money and Food...Rather than throw out eggs or milk that are about to expire make a cake or pudding.

For additional savings, investing in a bread machine would help cut the cost of bread and provide you with Fresh Homemade Healthy Bread daily per your creative ingredients. Put the ingredients in the bread machine and in a period of three-to-three and a half hours, FRESH BREAD for less than a $1.00 a loaf. The bread machine will pay for itself in a short time with current store bought bread prices.

One U.S. Agricultural Department study estimated that 25% of the food bought by consumers and restaurants is wasted or spoiled before it can be served. TV commercials advertise storage bags that will preserve the life of fruits and vegetables. If you are going to spend the high prices for your fruits and vegetables, then it might be wise to spend $10.00 for these reusable bags. They will pay for themselves over a short period of time compared to the price of lost/spoiled produce.

For your meat purchases, avoid paying for bones. At $10.00/lb. every pound of bones will cost you ten dollars for the throw away. Or, you might choose to wait until its on sale. Many dollars are saved by using your store loyalty card when it comes to your meat purchases. Buy Sale Price Meat in larger quantities, cut in portions, and FREEZE. Meat provides flexibility in one's menu planning. First meal is hot, freshly cooked. Leftover portions can be served as cold as sandwiches, or cubed and added to a fresh salad. Any other cubed leftover meat can be added to soup. THAT'S FOUR MEALS from one piece of meat.

Speaking of soup, homemade or store bought, you don't have to waste the crumbs from the bottom of the bag of chips, or Doritos ("breakage" in food industry language). Smash the remaining crumbs in the bag, and empty the crumbs on top of the soup when ready to serve for added flavor and fiber...no waste.

To eat healthier and save your time cooking, I recommend purchasing a Ronco "Showtime" Rotisserie. Put the meat on the spit or in the basket, set the timer, and let it cook away, allowing the fat to drip away. Place vegetables in steamer tray on top of the unit. When the timer goes off, take the meat out, and serve. This is a Very Nice MOTHER'S DAY GIFT that will KEEP ON GIVING. But remember: you'll have to figure out what you want to do with your free time while everything is cooking. It can cook up to a 15 lb. turkey. I have had mine for over six years.

Again, read your grocery ad circular carefully. Try to take advantage of the first opening days' "Sale Specials". Some stores run specials within the store that will provide FREEBIES or MONEY BACK for your NEXT SHOPPING VISIT. Last month Safeway/Dominick's had a $10.00 kick back for your next visit on a purchase of $30.00 or more of certain listed brand name products ...that's a 33% savings right there. Many of these items weren't ON SALE. This week they have two $5.00 kick back offers, the first is instant at the check out counter, the second is for your next visit.

Lastly, keep your eyes open for offers to add to your Government Stimulus Checks or Tax Refund Checks by Grocery Stores or Department Stores. Jewel (owned by Albertson) is offering a 10% Bonus if you use one of these CHECKS to purchase a Jewel-Osco Gift Card in increments of $300 up to $1200. Limit one offer per household. That’s a FREE $30 to $120 depending on the size of your check. Details are available in the store. Using these Be Smart...Shop Smart...Shopping Tips can add another 40-to-50% to this free money opportunity. Make Your Money Work for YOU!

Online Shopping Alters UK Retail Shopping Patterns

Online retailing (the so called "new economy") offers several advantages over traditional "brick and mortar" stores - but also has some interesting side effects and drawbacks (many of which are being addressed by technology). While Amazon wasn't the first - in the UK, it was a men's magazine offering pinups as the first historical case of "Internet commerce". Amazon was the first to have a significant impact on retailing as we know it.

The major advantages of an online shop are in reduced overhead; you have a web page that displays your products in a shopping cart software solution, rather than having to pay for display space, and employees to man the register. Customers do all the data entry needed to make an order, and your software can be configured to hold that order information for repeat customers.

As anyone who's run a retail business is aware, the cost per square meter of retail ready space is nearly triple the cost per square meter of warehouse space; even after the initial up front expenditures of creating an online shop, the reduced operating costs should (in theory) make for a more efficient business.

To pull in business, most online retailers employ discounting; Amazon is one example of this, with many hardback books priced at 10% to 15% over wholesale, which translates into a cover discount of 30% or more. Other shops, such as overstock, take remaindered lots of products and do much the same thing.

What this has done to brick and mortar businesses has been illustrative of market dynamics at work: Low prices dominate over everything else, and consumes vote with their credit cards. Entire market segments are rapidly shifting to online shopping models, most noticeably in items that are "commodity" products, like books.

Another retail segment that's been eliminated by online stores is music and entertainment retailing; Apple's iTunes store is now the number two music retailer in the world; it and Sony are the only two music retailers gaining market share. The old record shop on High Street may become a thing of the past in short order. Similar pressures exist with books; although the iPod for books has not yet materialized (Amazon's Kindle may be a first step towards that).

What's left on the retail tier are shopping experiences where customers want to see, touch or try on products before buying them: Clothing and similar merchandise is one such, as are shoes. Automobiles are another place where customers have proven to be wary of shopping online. Likewise, grocery shopping, in spite of several attempts to make an "online grocery store" has resisted all attempts to go into a realistic online market; look back a decade, and you'll see a lot of attempts to "New Economise" lots of traditional market segments, and while we remember the ones that worked (insurance, books, music), most people barely recollect the failures.

Sewing Machine - What a Buyer Needs Know

A `stitch` in time saves nine - such goes the saying. But, with the important of stitching growing exponentially over the last decade in the international market, stitching and sewing of fabric has gained phenomenal popularity across the world. Hence, if you have a creative bent of mind and a passion for sewing and stitching, you can expect a great career in fashion designing as well. However, an artist is only as good as the tools he uses. Hence, when you decide to buy a sewing machine, you have to take care of certain factors. There are several aspects that you need to judge when you are going to buy a sewing machine.

First of all you should know your expectation from a sewing machine. You may need sewing machine for mending purpose or making some decorative stitches. You can even purchase it for your personal use or for your home business. Find out whether your purpose is to stitch only your clothing or heavy items. This is because you have to select your machine according to your need. Think properly about your priority and then proceed to buy the perfect sewing machine for you.

When you are aware of your purpose of buying a sewing machine you can look for the special features that you need. For every kind of stitching there are different features and applications. You should know whether you are going to stitch one type of material or different varieties of fabrics. Select the kind of machine that can solve the purpose of buying it. You can prepare a list of feature before going for your dealing.

Then think of the storage place available with you for the sewing machine. You have to decide where you want to keep it during and after the use and accordingly you have to take the device. The sewing machines are available in many shapes and sizes. Earlier the machines that were available were bulky and heavy. These days, the sewing machines have become more compact and of light weight.

Technologies have changed since the day the sewing machine first appeared in the market. Today, you will find different models of sewing machines with many advanced features in them. All these features have got different applications like sewing, embroidery, zigzag and many others. It depends upon the choice of the buyer who is going to use it. However, buying a sewing machine can also depend upon the expertise of the user. If you are an expert, you have got the idea of handling it you can go for using machines with all new and complicated features in it. But if you are learning to sew you should buy the machine that has got easy-to-use features in it. Don`t go for a brand just because it is an expensive one.

As different companies are manufacturing new models with new features, your dealing of sewing machine should not be a daunting decision. For that you have to make sure of your requirements by judging the above mentioned features. Prior to that, you have to gather proper information about the device from some reviews available online and offline. Even you can ask your local dealers about it. And finally get some demo done by the sales man before taking your sewing machine to your home.

Nobody buys a sewing machine every year. In other words, you should think the above factors over and over again before deciding buy a specific sewing machine for yourself. Look at the special features offered by different brands in the market and see if you are going to need all those features for your everyday use. Consider the price of different models as well. This can save your from fretting over the decision of landing up at bad buy in future.

Online Auction Sites - the Market is Changing

Sellers are often revolted after receiving their bill for listing items at online auction sites. They seem to have fees for everything under the sun these days. On one popular auction site it is possible to run up fees of over $50 just by selling a single item. Many would be clients wrangle over whether it is really worth paying that much. They fear that their auction may never get noticed while buried beneath a million other similar auctions.

If you"ve ever spent time on Internet discussion forums then you know you can easily find people willing to speak their minds. Anger and resentment toward those big sites can sometimes run deep. Especially among those who sell frequently. Professionals, homemakers, hobbyists, and collectors all tend to be somewhat frustrated when it comes to buying and selling used merchandise online. One member gripes, "Those greedy sites might as well be collecting taxes too."

Most sellers say they are fed up with soaring End-of-Auction charges and what seems like a minefield of listing fees. A few can recall how it once was when online auctioning was in its infancy. Selling expensive items online used to be somewhere around two or three dollars in total fees. They have indeed been slowly creeping up for many years.

More and more disgruntled sellers have been turning to alternative selling methods in an attempt to save money. A new trend has been growing in the form of "niche" auction sites. These are smaller and leaner auction sites that specialize in only one type of merchandise or what would be only one category. They have been gaining appeal because fees are generally much lower than their big brother"s.

Another source for inexpensive auctioning is the mom and pop owned sites. These are private and sometimes home based sites which seem to combine the best of both worlds. They often have all of the general merchandise categories like the big sites, yet they keep overhead low like the niche sites. These site owners clearly don"t have as much overhead to bear.

Most have extremely modest fees while some have no fees at all. That"s right, none. If you dig deep enough you can actually find full service auction sites that allow visitors to run auctions completely free of charge. Not just once but as many times as they want and for as long as they want. Now that"s what we call a bargain.

In recent years, smaller auction sites like these have also been enjoying a steady growth of "buyer" traffic. More and more people are shopping from the security and comfort of their own homes. As the number of shoppers grow, so too do the number of auction sites. Bargain hunters have more choices today than ever before. Shoppers have adjusted to these trends by learning to hop from one auction site to another in search of the best deals. No more of the one-size-fits-all marketplace for them.

Ambitious webmasters have utilized unique and creative ways to advertise auction items. They know that more buyers mean more sellers and that the whole process can snowball. They generally make use of free or inexpensive off-site advertising for each auction item. The advertised links can lead straight to the auction pages of their clients which draws in prospective buyers. The proof is in the pudding because folks have indeed been migrating to those smaller sites.

Thanks to the perseverance of budget minded site owners, sellers can now shop around almost as much as the buyers. Price wars between sites are emerging as they vie for market share. The low-priced auction sites have been slowly but surely nibbling away at the clientele of those gigantic auction sites. Does this mean that those fat cats have finally priced themselves out of the market? No one really knows for sure, but perhaps someday some of those Goliath sites will fall from power.

Perhaps the time has come for sellers to finally feel the sweet revenge...and laugh all the way to the bank.

How My Interest in Crystal Started in a Windmill

My interest in crystal was initiated by two powerhouses - two mothers-in-law. It all started when I went to England to marry my first wife. How fortunate I was to gain a wonderful and caring mother-in-law in the process. Peggy was a wonderful, gracious woman from England"s upper social level. She spoke the Queen"s English and insisted when you do certain things it must be done "properly". That was her go-to phrase.

Peggy lived in a very old windmill that she had converted. The interior walls of the first level were lined with teak board paneling. The upper two levels were finished in plaster. The windmill was beautifully decorated with two hundred-plus year old antique furniture from France and England. Cabinets and shelves were filled with crystal, china, silver tableware and numerous small collectibles. She was an avid collector of antique furniture, plates crystal glassware and crystal figurines.

In a kind, motherly way, she explained the importance of bringing beautiful things of value into the home and that it could be done inexpensively once you knew the true value of something. In ten days, Peggy instructed me in the ins and outs of collecting and bargain hunting with the emphasis on quality and workmanship.

I was a willing student. I must admit I was stunned by the artistic style and craftsmanship of her collector plates and crystal. I could see how all these beautiful items she loved made her feel. Her collectibles were a treasure to her because she enjoyed them so much.
She was fond of saying that "Something isn"t valuable unless it has value for you." That was her buying philosophy and one of many that she instilled in me.

Her collection and tutelage is what sparked my interest in crystal and china. Peggy would come to America every couple of years and we all went shopping in the second-hand stores picking up odd pieces here and there. She could really find the bargains.

On one visit, she joined in the bedtime story routine with my daughter. She noticed the figurine my daughter held depicting an animal in the story. Gran was curious so I explained that the story was more enjoyable for her granddaughter when she held the figurine. My daughter had a great deal fun putting the figurine through actions of the characters in the story pr fairy tale. I told her I couldn"t find any other figurines for other stories and fairy tales I wanted to read. She said she would get them for me in England. I"d send her the name of a story or fairy tale and Gran would send a figurine

After a couple of years of enjoyable bedtime stories, my daughter had an interesting collection of figurines and my interest in crystal was expanding from glassware to figurines of all types, especially crystal figurines..

Peggy was a grand lady. But what she taught me has stayed with me these past forty years. After passing on, her windmill home was declared a historical treasure by England"s Historical Society. And open to the public for short periods of time. I will always remember her impressive collections and the instructions she kindly gave to me..

I was a bachelor for a quite a few years and highly focused on my career working in corporate America and traveling extensively as a Management and Business Training Consultant.. Unfortunately, I got away from collecting for awhile because I was so busy.

Somewhere in all that malaise I met a wonderful woman who captured my heart. I was hired to write a book and spent six weeks in Yugoslavia doing research. Being away from her made me realize that this lovely lady was to be my life"s partner. We married and in the deal I had another charming and endearing mother-in-law. How lucky can a guy get?

My new mother-in-law, Marge, took us under her guidance and patiently encouraged us to add crystal into our home décor. We took many shopping trips together to outlet malls and craft shows picking up crystal vases, serving plates and other crystal items that would be functional and beautiful additions to our home

Like Peggy, Marge stressed the importance of quality and the confidence in buying brand names like Waterford, Lenox, Makasa and Swarovski. I know what I like, but as a man I"m not up to speed on all those home décor touches a home needs. I was totally reliant on my wife"s and mother"s-in-law feminine prowess to choose the appropriate items.
They chose well and I have always been pleased with their purchases. Marge was a great guide along the way.

My wife and I now have a nice collection of china porcelain, crystal stemware and glassware and crystal figurines. Of all our collectibles the ones that bring me the greatest pleasure are the crystal animals and crystal figurines. Perhaps it is because of those fond memories of my daughter playing with those figurines as I read the bedtime fairy tales to her.

Along the forty year path of collecting, I have managed to acquire a few crystal figurines that are quite old and no longer made. I don"t care about their resale value. I care about the artistic and craftsmanship of the pieces. Gran would be proud and Marge is pleased.

It is only natural for people to spend a lot of time choosing which mattress to buy. After all, a night's rest depends on how comfortable you are in your sleep. Therefore, it requires a lot of thinking and scrutiny before buying a mattress because, this time, it already involves the quality of sleep.

Know how to buy a mattress with the following tips:

- Knowing what you want from a mattress is one of the basic steps in how to buy a mattress. You should beforehand set expectations of the mattress that you want to have so that when you buy, you will not be confused what to choose especially with the wide array of mattresses to choose from.

- Buy for quality and not for the price. It is only but natural to be attracted at first to those stores that sell mattresses at a cheaper price. There is nothing wrong with this in the first place. However, one should take into consideration to go first with quality than the price. Remember, it is more practical and wiser to buy an expensive mattress that is in good quality and long lasting, than to buy something that is cheaper but can easily be worn out.

- Going for credible brands is one way how to buy a mattress wherein you can be assured of the good conditions of its mattresses. Shopping at a reputable dealer will not only assure you of a better mattress, it is also educational. Stores such as those have well-trained sales persons who can assist you in choosing the right mattress and who can give you the right information about the mattresses their store is selling.

- Research online on good mattress brands and on what other consumers have to say on some of their products. This can give the buyer an idea how to buy a mattress and where to buy good qualities of mattress. Browsing the internet with reviews and testimonials about a certain brand of mattress can also be enlightening to you as a buyer because these feedbacks can serve as guides what brand to choose and where to buy it.

- Another "must-do" as part of how to buy a mattress effectively is to check on the quality of the mattress. Accordingly, lifting the corners of the mattress to feel its weight is one way in checking its quality. The heavier the mattress, the more seemingly durable its coils are because, this explains, that the "heaviness" of the mattress is caused by the abundant number its coils with heavy gauge wires. Checking on the durability and the support system that the mattress has is also another way of looking into its quality.

- Choose a comfortable mattress. Some people find firm and solid mattress to be more comfortable than the soft ones, while some people opted to have the soft ones especially those that conform with their sleeping positions.

- Another method of how to buy a mattress is to look for those mattress dealers that offer warranties. Warranties are very essential because this will not only save you from the agonizing discomfort of an easily damaged mattress, but also it will save the huge bucks of money that you had paid just to have the mattress.

Home | Shopping | Shopping Tips Buy Furniture Online vs Local Store - Pros and Cons By: Eric Lan “I like to sit on the sofa to see how it feels on

“I like to sit on the sofa to see how it feels on my bottom before buying it from the furniture store.” - Retail Store Customer
“I enjoy the easy convenience of immediate price comparison and easy to find online coupons when buying from my favorite online furniture store.” - Internet Customer

These are the two most common statements made by the opinions of the different kinds of people that prefer to buy something at the local store compared to those that like to browse and shop on the internet. Of course, nothing can ever replace the real feeling of sitting on the chair that you are going to buy or knocking on the wood of the cabinet to make sure how solid it is, and a lot of people enjoy that experience. But that experience comes at a cost, and for those of you that don’t mind to sacrifice that experience then there’s time and money to be saved. With the year over year growth of the percentage of consumers buying online, the economics support that market action and common sense because everyone can use an extra buck or two to spend elsewhere and more time to spend with loved ones rather than the stranger that is coughing next to you in line.

I always support going to the store and browsing around because it is an experience of ambience that you will never get when clicking on a picture online. But that should definitely be considered as a luxury and leisurely experience, because I am sure many of you are busy and have a budget you have in mind when shopping. In this article I will try to give you some background and true economics of buying furniture online so you are familiar with the pros and cons of not going to your local store, and further be able to address the cons to support a case that you should shop online for furniture more often than many think.

The money. One of the most key things to buying an item is to make sure that the price is right. And I can assure you that the pricing is mostly lower when buying from an online furniture store. Take for instance a dining room set that you find at the local big box retailer or family owned furniture store. They usually go for about $4000-$5000 for a dining room set with 4 chairs, 2 arm chairs, and a table. You can just see it in the Sunday paper ads or the mailers you get from companies like Easy Life or Levitz (which is going out of business, by the way). Just quickly go to Amazon or Google and you will be sure to find a dining room set with more selection and styles to meet your needs for less than half he price you pay at the local store, you find smaller dining sets at less then $800 up to complete formal dining room sets at $2500 average. And better yet, you can go from store to store to compare the pricing just by a click of a button and with the local store’s catalog in front of you to match up the pricing right at the comfort of your den dressed in your PJs. So now you may ask “what about the shipping?”, since it does usually cost a few hundred dollars to ship a dining room set, it’s not worth it so you drive to the store and get it yourself, but that takes up a lot of your time.

The time. Time does cost you not only money but also time away from family, friends, loved ones. So think about the drive to the store and using your own truck or rental truck to pick up and move the items into your house. That is a days worth of driving, moving, hauling, etc. Yes, furniture stores do deliver, but they still charge you and also charge to put things together. You can order online with in home delivery just as easy for $125 or more, and a lot of the items you buy in bulk have free shipping included. Let alone the savings on internet prices less the cost of shipping still gives you a lower price than buying from the store, you probably have to drive to a few stores to compare pricing which takes up even more time. I know of new home owners that slave to get their home furnished driving tens of (even hundreds of) miles from store to store for 6 months trying to find what they need to fully furnish their home, and this not only takes away from your time but also so much stress is added in this scavenger hunt you created for yourself when you decided to “go to the local store.” So put together the gas money, the time you’ve lost, the rental truck, moving, and putting things together, that should at least have cost you the same amount as the shipping the online furniture store would have charged you by clicking that checkout button. But of course, you are buying something that is thousands of dollars and you really want to see it and touch it before you buy because you can’t tell the quality of an item from the picture or zoom ups of the items.

The quality. What if the cushion is too hard? Or the size won’t fit? What if I have to return it because the color was not right? These are all hard pressed questions that challenge both the customer and the online furniture industry. But you have to realize that everyone (both retail store, online stores) is sourcing from the same people. Even if they buy from different wholesalers that supply their business, it’s the same manufacturer in Canada, China, Vietnam, etc. that makes the items. You are buying essentially the same items made by the originating people whether you buy from the store or you buy online, and you’re buying the same quality. So how can you be sure then if the item is what you want? Well, there are many things that can bolster your buying confidence, such as 1. Email or call the online store and ask them questions about the color or quality of the item, and where it’s made; 2. Find out the manufacturer name, and I can guarantee you will hear the same name that supplies the local store (you can also call the local store to find out what brands they carry); 3. Check if the items have warranties, because a good warranty means they back up an item of quality; 4. Product ratings by customers are sometimes displayed on the product page. Read through them and get a feel of what they say and if they have comments that address your concerns about buying that furniture item. All in all you can do your due diligence before making that big investment into your furniture and decorating your home, and the same level of quality checking can be done at the ease of a phone call and/or an email just as you would driving from store to store to compare.

Save time, save money, be happy, and shop online. Overall, my suggestion to all of you is to get out of the house once in a while to enjoy the atmosphere and be with people and enjoy the holidays. However, I suggest most importantly that more often than not you can save time to spend it with people you love, conserve your hard earned money, and get the same quality of furniture and home goods you’ve always wanted by just shopping online. You can find more information at my furniture blog that has daily and weekly posts on news and information about online shopping and furniture by visiting the Visiondecor website, and also find items such as dining furniture, bedroom furniture, dining chairs, and more for your online buying pleasure.

Simple Ways to Save Money on Food Purchases

The Feds have a neat way of playing with the statistics to try and convince us that the cost of goods is going up a little bit instead of a lot when they release their Consumer Price Index figures WITHOUT the cost of food and energy! Huh? For all of us living in the real world, we know just how much prices are going up, and unlike the government, we can't just exclude food and energy from our budgets. Since we can't eliminate food costs simply by moving it to another column, it is imperative to try and save money on this necessary expense, and this article looks at several easy ways to help reduce our food costs.

One of the easiest ways to save money on food is by simply being organized. When making up a list of items to be purchased, I always go through the ads to see who has what on sale, and when. You'll be amazed at how much you can save just by spending a little time looking at the Sunday ads, and seeing who has the best prices on items that you need. After making your list of stores to visit, set up a route and hit all of the stores in an orderly fashion purchasing the items on sale at each store. Don't just look at the food stores either, but look at places like drug stores who often discount many food items as 'loss leaders' to draw people into their store. After a while, you'll get a good feel for which stores have great deals on certain items, and when the items tend to go on sale. Another benefit of hitting several stores at a time is that you'll spend less time running to the stores, and use less gas in the process, saving you more money.

Another easy way to save lots of money is by belonging to one of the Wholesale clubs like Costco or B.J.'s. Don't let the idea of a membership fee keep you from belonging to at least one of these places because you'll more than make up for it in savings. The problem many people have with these type of stores is the fact that you have to buy everything in such large quantities. While this may be an issue for items like meat and other perishable foods, you can definitely save lots of money by buying non-perishables like canned goods, paper items, and many other things that have a long shelf life. If you do a co-op with a family member or friend, you can even split the purchases and the cost.

Like many people, I used to have an aversion to clipping coupons. However, my attitude about coupon clipping changed one day when I watched a woman in front of me purchase a cart full of groceries for about $17. She was an expert at using coupons to save money. If you really want to get serious about saving money with coupons, you have to be organized and only clip coupons that you're going to use. With the advent of the Internet, you can even print a lot of coupons online. A couple of sites that allow you to do this are coolsavings.com and coupons.com. Many stores also match manufacturers coupons, saving you twice as much on an item. While using coupons can save you a great deal of money, be aware of the prices of the items you're purchasing and compare them with the other brands. Although large name brand manufacturers offer coupon discounts more often than local brands, the name brand prices can be much higher, negating much of your savings. Be smart and compare.

There are some other things you can do to save money while in the store. First, avoid impulse buying. Stores place certain higher profit items at strategic places in the store, increasing the likelihood of your purchasing them. Be aware of this, and keep your hands in your pockets. Also, leaving the kids at home while shopping for food will likely decrease your impulse purchases since few parents can long resist the screaming of children wanting everything they see. Also you'll save a good bit of money by avoiding the junk or processed foods. These foods offer the most profit for stores and therefore are pushed at advertised overloaded consumers. Avoid the aisles that offer all of these 'goodies' and you'll save lots of money and your waistline.

While there are few absolutes in life, the need for food and the likelihood of this commodity continuing to increase are about as certain as death and taxes. Since none of us live in the make believe world of government statistics, it's a good idea to try and save a bit of money on this necessity whenever possible. Try implementing some of the tips mentioned here, and use your imagination to come up with some of your own.

Buying Clothing When Shopping

Buying Clothing When Shopping

Christmas shopping can be a lot of fun. Spending some time searching for the perfect gift for everyone on your gift list can be a great deal of fun. It is also rewarding when you find and purchase a gift you just know your loved one will treasure. However, there is one aspect of Christmas shopping which seems to be difficult for everyone. It seems when it comes to buying clothing while Christmas shopping, everyone seems to have at least a slight hesitation. There are just so many variables when it comes to clothes shopping that it can be difficult to shop for clothing for those on your gift list. Some of the variables which make Christmas shopping for clothing so difficult include size, color, style and material. This article will take a look at why Christmas shopping for clothing is so difficult and will attempt to offer some insight into how to purchase clothing for others.

The matter of size is one thing that makes Christmas shopping for clothing so difficult. You may have a good idea about what size your friend or family members is but it can be difficult to select the correct size particularly for items such as pants, skirts, dresses or blazers. Items such as sweatshirts in which the fit does not have to be perfectly tailored are easier to shop for but even with these items you still run the risk of selecting a shirt which is too small. A sweatshirt which is too big is considered acceptable as many people where these shirts large as a style but shirts which are too small can be rather uncomfortable and will not likely be worn by the recipient. When Christmas shopping for clothing it is wise to either select casual items or ask the recipient to try on the clothing. This ruins the element of surprise but will help you to select the correct size. You may wish to discuss your intentions to purchase clothing for your friend or family member and ask them if they would prefer to receive a surprise or to participate in the selection process by trying on items before they are purchased.

Selecting colors is another difficult aspect of Christmas shopping for clothing. In general if you know your friend or family members wears a particular color often, it is safe to assume they like this color and enjoy wearing this color. However, even this safe strategy can backfire on you at times. You may decide to purchase an article of clothing in this particular color because you see your friend or family members wearing the color often but you may soon find out they are tired of wearing that particular color and were hoping to receive clothing in other colors to expand their wardrobe. Again you can alleviate this problem by talking to your friend or relative and asking them what colors they would like to wear. This lets them know you are planning to purchase clothing for them for Christmas but does not give away the type of clothing or the style of the clothing.

Perhaps one of the most difficult dilemmas associated with Christmas shopping for clothing is selecting a style which will be appealing to the recipient of the Christmas gift and will look good on the recipient as well. If you are purchasing a gift of clothing for a really close friend or family member you may have a good idea about the style of clothing she likes because you see the clothing she wears on a regular basis but it still can be difficult to pick out items which you know she will like and will be flattering on her in terms of style. Again one of the best ways to deal with this situation is to ask the friend or relative to come shopping with you.

Wild About Secret Shopping

In America, there are millions of ways to make money. Many people feel trapped in their job simply because they are not open to the possibility of something better being available to them. They are not secure in their skills, or confident in their ability to take on something completely different than any thing they have previously done. This happens to a lot of us, as we find ourselves scarred by disappointment. We lose faith that this world is an amazing place, where virtually anything can happen, if we only have eyes to see and hearts to receive.

Not everyone feels so pessimistic, however. There are those adventurous souls, wild in heart and mind, longing for something better, something fun, something different. These people crave variety, and are not settling for the stability of just one job that could be taken away from them at a moments notice. No, not everyone needs that. And so they seek out multiple, interesting ways to earn a living rather than gaze away the hours, waiting till their time comes to clock out and go home.

Secret shoppers are privy to the kind of variety that others vainly wish for. Their line of work takes them to different places each and every day, asking different questions, observing human interaction on the basis of customer service. One day they may be dining at an Italian restaurant, and the next they are checking into a four star hotel, or looking at cell phones. They live on the wild side, in a way, working undercover, trying on the shoes of a new customer with each assignment that they receive.

Secret shoppers have at their disposal keen powers of observation, and they use them well. They are trained to not only spot discrepancies in quality customer/employee interactions, but they also write detailed reports of their findings. These are by no means simple blurbs or basic observations. The businesses who pay to use the services of secret shoppers want factual, coherent and comprehensive information that will assist them in improving their service, and in turn, their profits. You have to have a tough skin, a strong eye for detail and perhaps a bit of wild blood in your veins. Why?

Many employees do not take kindly to the service that these quality reporters provide. Because of this, it is important to maintain a sense of anonymity and professionalism whenever they are on assignment. If they are discovered, contrary to what one would expect, they may receive abrasive, disdainful treatment by the employee rather than even better, more conscious service. Why is that? Perhaps these employees feel that their job is threatened or that they have become a target. They do not see it as an opportunity to prove their worth to the company. Rather, their egos get in the way, and they become resentful.

Secret shoppers are a benefit to every company who utilizes their service, even though the employees who are being observed may not always agree. It is those very employees, however, that often fail to meet the individual needs of the customers whom they are meant to serve, causing the businesses to lose valuable clientele. And it is these very employees that businesses who use secret shoppers want to be made aware of.

Internet Shopping Is Beneficial For Both Seller And Buyer

Internet shopping is bigger than ever. You can find anything and everything for sale online it is the latest trend dreamed up by the supermarket giants. Aimed at the rich, busy, immobile, elderly or simply lazy, all you have to do is switch on your computer and browse your way around a supermarket, before, hey presto, the goods are on your doorstep.

Internet shopping is also referred to as online shopping or web shopping. Like the regular real-life shopping experience, online shopping or web shopping is the process of buying and selling conducted over the web. Internet shopping is quickly becoming the Web-Mart of convenience and savings and is a big time-saver.

Online shopping also offers safe and secure purchases, and this is clearly shown by the tremendous growth of the sales online.

If consumers are not convinced that their credit card information is processed securely then they will not shop online. E-commerce encourages growth in existing as well as new businesses because of lower overhead costs, the huge consumer base and the freedom of information flow. However the online revolution has created a large amount of competition for consumers between businesses despite the fact that the public does not yet have total confidence in the e-commerce market.

Internet shopping is a great way to find exactly what you need and often times save money. A friend purchase a very nice digital camera for $500, I purchase the same exact camera, brand new with free re-chargeable batteries & car charger for $249, with no shipping charges (took 3 days to arrive). Internet shopping is expanding at the fastest rate in six years, effectively shrugging off the gloom being witnessed on the high street.

Web shopping is becoming a common method for many people to obtain many products. Two Internet-based businesses, E-bay and Amazon.com are in many ways responsible for implementing a business concept that was viewed by consumers as trustworthy and dependable.

Online shopping is a time saver for many consumers. For example, instead of spending their lunch hour getting into their car, driving to the mall or other retail store, possibly getting stuck in traffic, and searching for needed items, many consumers sit at their desk and place their orders on-line.

Internet shopping is one of the convenient methods used by people. If you do not have time to visit shops and malls then it is a good idea to opt for online stores. Internet shopping is becoming popular amongst users in developed nations, as it is more efficient to 'shop on the Internet' than to go physically into the stores. The Internet provides a virtual environment where consumers' demands are met with supplies. Web shopping is very convenient and beneficial. Actually online shopping is beneficial for both seller and buyer.

5 Shopping Tips For Weddings

Try to shop earlier for gifts. This one step is often the hardest to do with all those busy schedules, but this one step will not only make shopping less stressful, but also save you money and make shopping more enjoyable. Once you have the gift list available to you, start comparing prices, then go shopping when the prices are good instead of waiting till the last minute and getting stuck paying full price. Besides if you wait till the last minute you may not get exactly what you wanted to get for a gift and may end up settling for something less than originally planned.

Find Out and Pay Attention to What They Like, Want and Need
When you pay attention to everyday comments like: “I bet this would look good in the living room” or ”I sure could use something like this” you find that gift ideas are practically falling at your feet on a daily basis. The only hard part is remembering these ideas until the need arises to buy these gifts. That’s why planning ahead is so helpful, you won’t be caught off guard and when items go on sale you can take advantage of those savings. This way the bride and groom are getting something that they could really use and a helpful hint would be to check and make sure they haven’t already gotten the item before they announced the engagement. This is also a good way of avoiding duplicate gifts, by getting the happy couple something they may have forgotten they wanted and not being limited to the gift registries that everybody else is shopping from.

Shop Online
The internet is a virtual never ending shopping mall. You can find everything nowadays right at the touch of your fingertips and the best part is there are always lots of deals out there to take advantage of. My personal favorite is to find personalized gifts on the internet. There are so many unique personalized gifts out there to help capture happy memories and they also make useful, one of a kind gifts to give to loved ones on days like wedding celebrations. But once again the gift has to be something he or she really wants or really needs so that way you know the gift will be appreciated. The best part of shopping on line is you never have to leave the comfort of your home and you can have most items delivered right to your home and eliminate having to run around and find the perfect gift. Plus gift registries can also be done online and sometimes cover a wider range of gift ideas than just being limited to one or two stores.

Get Tickets to an Event or Plan an Evening out for after the Wedding
This kind of gift creates lasting memories and also gives the happy couple something to look forward to. Once the bride and groom get back from their honeymoon, give them a romantic evening for them to look forward to. Especially if they are a young couple and just starting out, they will be financially strapped for awhile, so what better way to express your congratulations than by giving them tickets to a favorite event, show or just a nice dinner. This breaks up the day to day monotony for the new couple and will be greatly appreciated once the honeymoon euphoria has worn off.

Plan Some Kind of Getaway or Make Honeymoon Plans
Find out if the bride and groom have honeymoon plans and offer the honeymoon as the gift if you really want to spoil the new couple. Or present them with some kind of vacation plans for down the road. It doesn’t matter if the vacation is a small weekend getaway or an elaborate trip planned just for two, this gift will be warmly welcomed by both him and her. Plus planning a trip can often be done online and there are a lot of web sites out there geared towards helping you find the perfect getaway for a great price. Again the couple will have something to look forward to and what’s better than spending quality time with your sweetie :-)

No matter what gift you’re shopping for you can save yourself a lot of stress, time and money by following these few simple ideas. Besides nobody wants to be all stressed out trying to find the perfect gift for our loved ones so just remember to make shopping for gifts easier on you and pretty soon shopping won’t be such a hassle anymore. Gifts are always the best when they are something that the receiver truly wants and when they come from the heart. Happy Shopping :-)

The Joys Of Christmas Shopping In July

Have you ever experienced the joys of Christmas shopping in July? Beginning with Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the Christmas shopping season kicks off and millions of people cram themselves into malls and stores trying to find that perfect Christmas gift.

Should you put yourself through all that hassle, crowds and annoyance? Perhaps it may be wiser to shop during the blistering summer month of July when everyone is outside enjoying the nice weather.

If you hate crowds and fighting them during the Christmas season, then this is just the way to go.

Retailers usually have slow summers, due to the lull between Mother's/Father's Day and Thanksgiving, and they often have many great deals hidden throughout the store in an attempt to bring people in.

Going shopping in July for all those Christmas gifts will not only save you money, as some retailers will often have sales in December with prices higher than they are in July, but it will help you beat the crowds.

Of course, this does not work for everything. Certain things, such as video games released in the Christmas season, pets and food cannot, of course, be bought in July.

However, minus those few exceptions, July Christmas shopping is something not enough shoppers do.

One thing to take into consideration is the hiding of presents. Instead of only hiding gifts for a few weeks, you will be hiding them from your loved ones and friends for nearly six months, so choose a spot wisely!

Another way to save money, but not fight the crowds, is to shop throughout the year on various sale weekends like Columbus Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day.

These long weekends provide you ample opportunities throughout the year to slowly pick up the presents you need. Granted, there will be crowds but the sale prices will be excellent and the crowds will be nothing compared to those of the Black Friday to Christmas Eve sort.

If you live in Canada, use the day after Christmas, Boxing Day, to start picking up presents for the following year. Prices are usually the cheapest at this point but crowds will be pretty bad.

You fall into the same situation here as well, with having to hide presents for 364 days, rather than a few weeks.

Whichever method you choose, there are plenty of ways to beat the crowds, save money and not stress yourself out over this Christmas season.

Unless, of course, you like the joys of shopping for presents during November and December.

Online Shopping And Ecommerce

Declining prices of internet connectivity and growing confidence in online retail stores have sent online sales figures soaring over the past few years. It seems that every year, online sales figures hit a new high. This can only mean one thing, shopping on the worldwide web is here to stay.

The US Census Bureau states that retail sales online accounted for 1.9% of the total sales at the end of 2003. This represents more than $17.2 billion in total revenues. By the fourth quarter of 2004, online retail sales accounted for 26% of total retail sales. It doesn't stop there. Forrester Research noted that online Christmas shopping contributed for $13.8 billion in revenues in 2006. Globally, online sales generated revenues of $747.6 billion for the year 2006, this is a 14.8 percent growth over 2005 and 23.1 percent of the total retail sales for the year.

It has long been a belief that people want to actually see, touch and feel a product before buying it. But with the growing availability of comparison shopping sites or services that host product reviews, consumers are relying on online research to make sure that they buy the right product for the best possible price. In a survey by Pricegrabbers.com 81% of the respondents stated they researched on the internet first for both products and retailers when it came to shopping for home furniture and appliances. In fact, there was a significant rise in the confidence level of consumers while making large purchases online as compared to a similar survey conducted in 2006.

The comfort levels for buying on the web has been increased by the deals offered by retailers, including improving after-sales service and offers on home delivery of products. Also, as major high street companies launch online versions of their physical stores, where people can access the same quality and discounting without the headache of driving all the way to the store and fighting through the masses shopping for similar stuff.

If you still need proof that the world is moving towards online retail in a big way, consider this:

According to The UK Office for National Statistics online shopping in the nation is likely to continue to grow upwards, accounting for £162 billion in revenues by 2020 and contribute 40% of total retail sales.

In short, the online shopping train has taken off and there is no stopping it now. If you want to get on board, feel free to give us a call on 0845 0574320
