5 Shopping Tips For Weddings

Try to shop earlier for gifts. This one step is often the hardest to do with all those busy schedules, but this one step will not only make shopping less stressful, but also save you money and make shopping more enjoyable. Once you have the gift list available to you, start comparing prices, then go shopping when the prices are good instead of waiting till the last minute and getting stuck paying full price. Besides if you wait till the last minute you may not get exactly what you wanted to get for a gift and may end up settling for something less than originally planned.

Find Out and Pay Attention to What They Like, Want and Need
When you pay attention to everyday comments like: “I bet this would look good in the living room” or ”I sure could use something like this” you find that gift ideas are practically falling at your feet on a daily basis. The only hard part is remembering these ideas until the need arises to buy these gifts. That’s why planning ahead is so helpful, you won’t be caught off guard and when items go on sale you can take advantage of those savings. This way the bride and groom are getting something that they could really use and a helpful hint would be to check and make sure they haven’t already gotten the item before they announced the engagement. This is also a good way of avoiding duplicate gifts, by getting the happy couple something they may have forgotten they wanted and not being limited to the gift registries that everybody else is shopping from.

Shop Online
The internet is a virtual never ending shopping mall. You can find everything nowadays right at the touch of your fingertips and the best part is there are always lots of deals out there to take advantage of. My personal favorite is to find personalized gifts on the internet. There are so many unique personalized gifts out there to help capture happy memories and they also make useful, one of a kind gifts to give to loved ones on days like wedding celebrations. But once again the gift has to be something he or she really wants or really needs so that way you know the gift will be appreciated. The best part of shopping on line is you never have to leave the comfort of your home and you can have most items delivered right to your home and eliminate having to run around and find the perfect gift. Plus gift registries can also be done online and sometimes cover a wider range of gift ideas than just being limited to one or two stores.

Get Tickets to an Event or Plan an Evening out for after the Wedding
This kind of gift creates lasting memories and also gives the happy couple something to look forward to. Once the bride and groom get back from their honeymoon, give them a romantic evening for them to look forward to. Especially if they are a young couple and just starting out, they will be financially strapped for awhile, so what better way to express your congratulations than by giving them tickets to a favorite event, show or just a nice dinner. This breaks up the day to day monotony for the new couple and will be greatly appreciated once the honeymoon euphoria has worn off.

Plan Some Kind of Getaway or Make Honeymoon Plans
Find out if the bride and groom have honeymoon plans and offer the honeymoon as the gift if you really want to spoil the new couple. Or present them with some kind of vacation plans for down the road. It doesn’t matter if the vacation is a small weekend getaway or an elaborate trip planned just for two, this gift will be warmly welcomed by both him and her. Plus planning a trip can often be done online and there are a lot of web sites out there geared towards helping you find the perfect getaway for a great price. Again the couple will have something to look forward to and what’s better than spending quality time with your sweetie :-)

No matter what gift you’re shopping for you can save yourself a lot of stress, time and money by following these few simple ideas. Besides nobody wants to be all stressed out trying to find the perfect gift for our loved ones so just remember to make shopping for gifts easier on you and pretty soon shopping won’t be such a hassle anymore. Gifts are always the best when they are something that the receiver truly wants and when they come from the heart. Happy Shopping :-)

The Joys Of Christmas Shopping In July

Have you ever experienced the joys of Christmas shopping in July? Beginning with Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, the Christmas shopping season kicks off and millions of people cram themselves into malls and stores trying to find that perfect Christmas gift.

Should you put yourself through all that hassle, crowds and annoyance? Perhaps it may be wiser to shop during the blistering summer month of July when everyone is outside enjoying the nice weather.

If you hate crowds and fighting them during the Christmas season, then this is just the way to go.

Retailers usually have slow summers, due to the lull between Mother's/Father's Day and Thanksgiving, and they often have many great deals hidden throughout the store in an attempt to bring people in.

Going shopping in July for all those Christmas gifts will not only save you money, as some retailers will often have sales in December with prices higher than they are in July, but it will help you beat the crowds.

Of course, this does not work for everything. Certain things, such as video games released in the Christmas season, pets and food cannot, of course, be bought in July.

However, minus those few exceptions, July Christmas shopping is something not enough shoppers do.

One thing to take into consideration is the hiding of presents. Instead of only hiding gifts for a few weeks, you will be hiding them from your loved ones and friends for nearly six months, so choose a spot wisely!

Another way to save money, but not fight the crowds, is to shop throughout the year on various sale weekends like Columbus Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day.

These long weekends provide you ample opportunities throughout the year to slowly pick up the presents you need. Granted, there will be crowds but the sale prices will be excellent and the crowds will be nothing compared to those of the Black Friday to Christmas Eve sort.

If you live in Canada, use the day after Christmas, Boxing Day, to start picking up presents for the following year. Prices are usually the cheapest at this point but crowds will be pretty bad.

You fall into the same situation here as well, with having to hide presents for 364 days, rather than a few weeks.

Whichever method you choose, there are plenty of ways to beat the crowds, save money and not stress yourself out over this Christmas season.

Unless, of course, you like the joys of shopping for presents during November and December.

Online Shopping And Ecommerce

Declining prices of internet connectivity and growing confidence in online retail stores have sent online sales figures soaring over the past few years. It seems that every year, online sales figures hit a new high. This can only mean one thing, shopping on the worldwide web is here to stay.

The US Census Bureau states that retail sales online accounted for 1.9% of the total sales at the end of 2003. This represents more than $17.2 billion in total revenues. By the fourth quarter of 2004, online retail sales accounted for 26% of total retail sales. It doesn't stop there. Forrester Research noted that online Christmas shopping contributed for $13.8 billion in revenues in 2006. Globally, online sales generated revenues of $747.6 billion for the year 2006, this is a 14.8 percent growth over 2005 and 23.1 percent of the total retail sales for the year.

It has long been a belief that people want to actually see, touch and feel a product before buying it. But with the growing availability of comparison shopping sites or services that host product reviews, consumers are relying on online research to make sure that they buy the right product for the best possible price. In a survey by Pricegrabbers.com 81% of the respondents stated they researched on the internet first for both products and retailers when it came to shopping for home furniture and appliances. In fact, there was a significant rise in the confidence level of consumers while making large purchases online as compared to a similar survey conducted in 2006.

The comfort levels for buying on the web has been increased by the deals offered by retailers, including improving after-sales service and offers on home delivery of products. Also, as major high street companies launch online versions of their physical stores, where people can access the same quality and discounting without the headache of driving all the way to the store and fighting through the masses shopping for similar stuff.

If you still need proof that the world is moving towards online retail in a big way, consider this:

According to The UK Office for National Statistics online shopping in the nation is likely to continue to grow upwards, accounting for £162 billion in revenues by 2020 and contribute 40% of total retail sales.

In short, the online shopping train has taken off and there is no stopping it now. If you want to get on board, feel free to give us a call on 0845 0574320

The shopping month in berlin is march

On March 29th the German capital features one of the bravest nights in terms of shopping fever… the so called “The Long Shopping Night”. This year Berlin celebrates the16th long shopping night for over 500,000 shopaholics to indulge in a extra spate of retail therapy among 350 shops, stores, restaurants and bars.

Shops and entertainment venues stay open until midnight to the delight of big spenders everywhere. So if you're in Berlin this Spring bring your flexible friend and cut loose; If not, then you'll have to wait until Autumn for a second bite of the Long Shopping Night cherry.

On this regard, there’s a new tendency among young Europeans that is travelling in small groups of 3-5 people. This way of travelling, apart from being safer especially for girls who seem to be the best travellers in terms of kilometres run per year, is also cost-effective. There are many ways we can demonstrate this: from the train tickets that often apply reductions to groups, to museums entrance, up to accommodation and food expenses. If you think about it, many places offer jugs of beer for as cheap as 8-10 euros and you can drink as much as you want for 2-3 euros only.

Not to speak about some ‘pizzerie’ where they cook giant pizzas for up to 6-8 people at ridiculous prices. Then if you look for cutting off the accommodation costs, many young backpackers, students or travellers often opt for private apartments where they can cook their own meal, chill out after a day in the city, guest new friends for a drink, or whatever they wish. We too have often chosen this alternative as prices range from an average of 80-120 euros for a central apartment in an European Capital city.

Take the Berlin example, with less than 80 euros per day, you can rent out studios for 3-4 people. Basically with 25 bucks guys, you can make your day and save a lot! And more and more, apartments owners are renting out their apartments to tourists, not only to residents.

Getting back to our shopping topic, if you are in Berlin the following little suggestions and info may be of some help. KaDeWe is the biggest store of the continent from clothes to food (Tauentzienstr., 21; Shönenberg; ph. +49 (0) 30 21210; U-Bahn Wittenbergplatz) whilst the cheapest one is Wertheim in Charlottenburg district (Kurfürstendamm 231; ph: +49 (0) 30 880030; transport: U-Bahn Kurfürstendamm). Specialized in backpacking gears is the Bannat (Lietzenburger Str.65, Charlottenburg; ph: +49 (0) 30 882 7601) whilst for unceasing readers you should try Dussmann a huge Emporium for books, cds and software right in Mitte (Friedrichstr.90; ph: +49 (0) 30 2025 2400) or East of Eden in the heart of East Berlin.

It’s an international independent second-hand book shop hosting regular events (readings, open stage, exhibitions and live music) in the reading room. You can choose among 10,000 second-hand English language books! (Schreinerstrasse 10, Samariterstr; U-Bahn Samariterst). If you are in the area and still prefer to indulge in small cosy bookshops why not try the “Books in Berlin”?It has a good section for English narrative too and used books in general (Goethestr.69, Charlottenberg; phone number: +49 (0) 30 3131233).

Well we hope this brief introduction to Berlin Shopping fever was quite exhaustive to give you an idea of what you can do and expect while there. So save up some money and let’s meet there!

Huge saving on online shopping

Online shopping can be a hassle free experience if shoppers keep a few facts in mind. Contrary to popular belief, online shopping can be as secure and safe as handing cash over the counter and any smart online shopper should look for the following while dealing with an e-commerce website:

Look for secure sites
Almost all e-commerce sites use a secure transaction server that ensures that all data transmitted is encrypted using a 128 bit cipher (browsers like Internet Explorer 7 now support a 256 bit cipher). Look for websites that are using technologies like SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) for their online transactions. In addition, most e-commerce sites ensure that they use dynamic pages that expire after a given time period. Make sure you are dealing with a website that is using a trusted payment gateway like authorize.net or ccavenue.com.
It is equally important to shop with e-commerce websites that are safe from hackers, most e-commerce websites have started enrolling with the ‘Hacker Proof’ programme that allows webmasters to have their websites tested for potential security threats. Remember, any webmaster willing to invest time and money for securing their website is serious about his/her business.
Don’t forget shipping costs
You might be getting a great deal on the latest electronic gadget, but always look for a website that is transparent in its dealing. Most e-commerce websites have a transparent procedure that clearly mentions the shipping costs, insurance and handling charges (if any), and any additional charges that might be levied. Before buying anything online, make sure you understand the shipping charges and any additional charges that might be involved.
Ease of use
Although all webmasters work towards making their websites easy to use and free from complications, look for a website that is easy to use. Most websites are compatible with web browsers like Internet Explorer, Firefox and Netscape but you should make sure that the e-commerce website you are using does not require any additional plug-ins or add-ons. Excellent examples of easy to use websites are eBay and Amazon, and their success can be attributed to the ease with which internet users can use both websites.
Payment options
Although most e-commerce websites use standard payment gateways, look for an e-commerce website that allows you to make payment using various methods. If you are not comfortable making online payments using credit cards, make sure you can make payments via PayPal. Remember, as a consumer it is always a good idea to be able to make payments the way you want, and a website that does not offer a full slate of payment options may not always meet your approval.
It is equally important that you deal with a website that has been in existence for a long time and has established a reputation for itself. There is no denying that e-commerce websites cannot become reliable and trusted overnight, but you can deal with a website that is safe and secure none the less.

Check the condition of the item being sold
Not all electronics products sold online (like DVDs and CDs) are new. Most e-commerce websites mention the condition of the product being sold clearly and you should make sure you understand the condition of the product before buying anything online. In addition, not all electronics products come with their OEM warranty, make sure your read the product description carefully before making any payments. Remember, that it is your responsibility to understand the condition of the product being sold (as most e-commerce websites clearly mention the condition of the product and the warranty details). If you are not sure about the product you are buying, contact the customer care department for further clarifications. Only buy the product once your queries are answered.
